On Monday, 8 December 2025, the City of Sarajevo organized an Action Lab workshop within the framework of the international URBACT Pioneers Accelerator project, aimed at strengthening participatory planning and jointly defining the next steps of the planned pilot intervention.
The workshop opened with remarks by local mentor Ivana Unković, who outlined the objectives of the Action Lab and emphasized the importance of meaningful engagement of citizens and partners in urban development processes. This was followed by a project presentation delivered by Amar Popara, Project Manager at the City of Sarajevo’s Department for Sustainable Development, who highlighted the achieved results, development phases, and strategic direction of the project.
The central element of the program was the Co-Design Studio “Our City, Our Ideas,” where participants engaged in a facilitated creative session to develop physical models of the proposed urban space. Through collaborative work, idea exchange, and dialogue, the groups generated concepts reflecting innovation, functionality, and community needs. The presentation of the models provided an opportunity for constructive discussion and alignment on key themes and future steps of the pilot intervention.
The workshop concluded with an informal networking session, facilitating further conversations, exchange of contacts, and strengthening of cooperation among institutions and local stakeholders.
The City of Sarajevo extends its appreciation to all participants who contributed their insights, creativity, and expertise, enriching the process of collaborative planning and shaping sustainable urban solutions.
