We proudly announce – the City of Sarajevo, through the City Department for Sustainable Development, as host of the URBACT Pioneers Accelerator Final Event 2026

In September 2026, Sarajevo will host the final URBACT Pioneers Accelerator (UPA) event, an international initiative for sustainable urban development and city capacity building.

Through the UPA program, together with cities from Bosnia and Herzegovina and European partners, concrete results have been achieved:

· Actively connecting local and regional stakeholders in URBACT networks;

· Organisation of co-creation workshops with citizens, resulting in jointly developed solutions for the design and future use of a therapeutic garden in the Municipality of Centar, intended as an inclusive public space accessible to citizens;

 · Practical insights and locally grounded knowledge gained through interactive workshops and structured exchanges that will inform future initiatives and projects aimed at improving the quality of life of Sarajevo’s citizens.

 The event contributes to Sarajevo’s development by strengthening international cooperation and increasing its international visibility, enabling the exchange of knowledge and good practices among European cities and local stakeholders, and supporting future initiatives aimed at improving the quality of life of Sarajevo’s citizens.
