The City of Sarajevo, along with 16 other European cities, is participating in the third open call of the CommuniCity project, which seeks innovative technological solutions to urban challenges, with a special focus on digital inclusion and the well-being of marginalized communities. This call aims to improve the quality of life for all citizens through technological solutions that promote inclusivity and sustainability.
The budget for the final, third open call of CommuniCity is approximately €820,000, funded by the Horizon Europe program. Selected pilot teams will receive a grant of up to €12,500 to develop their technological solutions and carry out experimental projects in collaboration with citizens.
In addition to the project’s partner cities – Helsinki, Porto, and Amsterdam, the replicator cities joining the third open call include: Aarhus, Bruges, Brussels, Cuneo, London, Manchester, Matosinhos, Milazzo, Plock, Prague, Sant Boi de Llobregat, Sarajevo, The Hague, and Utrecht. Each of these cities has defined unique challenges that require technical solutions to enhance digital inclusivity and the quality of life in local communities.
Sarajevo Challenge: Improving Access to Assistive Technology for People with Disabilities
In Sarajevo, the focus is on improving access to assistive technologies for people with disabilities, a key challenge. About 10% of the population of Bosnia and Herzegovina lives with some form of disability, and limited access to technology significantly affects their education, employment, and overall well-being. The goal of this challenge is to develop solutions that ensure equal opportunities for all citizens, contributing to a more inclusive society.
