Integrated and Innovative Actions for Sustainable Urban Mobility Upgrade
The TRIBUTE project has entered its second year of implementation. The project consortium is planning its first Steering Committee Meeting in Novi Sad (Serbia) in July in physical format, as the travel restriction due to the COVID-19 pandemic have been lifted.
The agenda and the details of possible side events will be circulated soon. The meeting will be the occasion for the project partners to discuss about the results achieved so far in the implementation of the living lab and of the pilot actions, and to sort out the setbacks encountered during the first months, in view of the definition of the TRIBUTE transnational strategy for the sustainable mobility in the Adriatic-Ionian cities.
Some anticipations have been presented at the 7th Forum of the EU Strategy for the Adriatic and Ionian Region (EUSAIR) event held on May 17th in Tirana (Albania). On this occasion prof. Coppola (Politecnico di Milano, TRIBUTE Lead partner) presented the TRIBUTE approach (“quadruple helix”) for the identification of actions oriented to low-carbon and inclusive urban mobility, with a focus on the “Mobility Islands” concept, i.e., pilot action implemented by the City of Sarajevo.
Furthermore, the TRIBUTE project will be present with its own stand at the Velocity 2022 conference to be held in Ljubljana (Slovenia), organised from June 14th to 17th by the European Cyclists’ Federation (ECF). This will be a great opportunity to explore new possibilities for cooperation with other European cities, and to share preliminary results of the TRIBUTE pilot actions, particularly those related to the development of green cycling routes.
The City of Sarajevo is finalizing the Methodology for developing the Mobility Island concept. The aim of Mobility Islands is to pull together a variety of infrastructures, equipment and services to attract, incentivize, and fulfil people’s desire to access all parts of the city for whatever they wish to do, and from wherever they start their journey. Through its convenience and choice of travel modes, through its growing availability across a city, and through its design and attractive form, it will enable the “5-minute city” - ensuring everybody is within walking distance of facilities to enable a clean, green, affordable, and healthy journey. This will become a central pillar of the future of urban mobility.
