A dynamic three-day workshop was held in Tuzla, bringing together representatives of the NetZeroCities initiative, local authorities—winners of the Local Sustainable Development Leaders Award for Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) for 2024—and communities involved in the BiH SuTra program. The aim of the workshop was to explore opportunities for climate actions and investment planning, with a special focus on the feasibility and financing of climate initiatives in Bosnian communities.
Derviš Hadžimuhamedović from the City of Sarajevo’s Department for Sustainable Development shared his thoughts on the workshop: "The City of Sarajevo aims to become a leader in the sustainable transition in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which is why this workshop was extremely important for the further development of our knowledge on climate actions and investments. As part of the EU Net Zero Cities mission, together with East Sarajevo and Sarajevo Canton, we are inspired by Sweden's ambitious plans for achieving climate neutrality and motivated to seriously approach the creation of our own investment and action plan. We also shared our experiences, successes, and challenges with colleagues from other parts of BiH, hoping it will be useful to them in their local communities. The City of Sarajevo is determined to begin working actively on mitigating the effects of climate change, and this workshop helps us prepare better for this challenge."
The workshop in Tuzla, organized by SEI in collaboration with the Swedish Embassy in BiH, contributed to increasing the knowledge of BiH communities on climate actions and investment planning.
