Representatives of the City of Sarajevo participated in the three-day Bauhaus Bites consortium meeting and study visit held in Birmingham, bringing together representatives of cities, organisations and institutions from across Europe to exchange knowledge and jointly advance more sustainable, resilient and inclusive urban food systems.
The first day focused on introducing the host city and presenting the results achieved during the first 18 months of project implementation. Project partners showcased the progress of their local activities, while the Trailblazer and Twin cities shared their experiences, challenges and examples of good practice in developing sustainable food systems.
Particular attention was given to the development of sustainable urban food systems, monitoring and evaluation of project activities, the preparation of policy recommendations for decision-makers, and the coordination, communication and dissemination of project results.
The second and third days were dedicated to collaborative learning, the exchange of experiences and the presentation of inspiring initiatives that contribute to building healthier, more resilient and inclusive communities. During the working sessions, partners jointly contributed to the development of the project's Playbook, sharing valuable knowledge, practical experience and good practices that will support local communities across Europe.
Study visits formed an important part of the programme, enabling representatives of the City of Sarajevo to explore successful examples of citizen engagement in co-creation processes, the innovative use of existing resources, and cooperation between public authorities, civil society organisations and other stakeholders aimed at improving food accessibility, strengthening social cohesion, enhancing citizens' well-being and increasing community resilience.
Participation in the consortium meeting provided an excellent opportunity to gain new knowledge, exchange ideas and strengthen international partnerships that support the development of more sustainable, connected and liveable urban environments.
The City of Sarajevo extends its sincere gratitude to the hosts in Birmingham for their warm hospitality and to all project partners for the productive discussions, valuable exchange of experience and successful collaboration in advancing sustainable urban food systems and more resilient communities across Europe.
